十根川の臼太鼓踊り について

The Tunegawa Usu Drum Dance is a joint autumn festival of the three districts of Tunegawa, Okubo and Shiihara, and is said to have originally been danced in the gardens of private houses in each district. At present, it is danced every year in the precincts of the Tunegawa Shrine.
A distinctive feature of the dance is that two or three feathers of a mountain bird are attached to the hat, and the bird's hair, which is carried on the back in other areas, is not used. Examples of the use of bird feathers for the Usu-Daiko dance can also be found in the neighbouring village of Morozuka.
