About sowing the seeds of burning fields

"In the first year, just after the fire is set and all the yabo (where the trees have been cut down) have been burnt, buckwheat seeds are sown where the ground is still smoky. There is a chant at this time. Generally, only buckwheat seeds are sown in the first year, followed by Japanese millet and millet in the second year, but in sunny areas, barley seeds were sometimes sown along with buckwheat at the same time. Wheat grows from autumn after the buckwheat harvest, and is harvested around June the following year. After the barley harvest, it was not possible to sow millet seeds, so only millet seeds were sown around July.
