平家まつり について

The Heike Festival is held annually for three days in the second week of November and attracts many tourists. Villagers come together to perform traditional arts and parades, and offer food and products unique to Shiiba. The first night's 'Hogaku Matsuri' is based on the tragic love story of Princess Tsurutomi and Nasu Daihachiro, while the 'Yamato Emaki Samurai Parade' is a spectacular procession of armour and junihitoe (12-layered kimono) through the streets.
